Chasing the Blue Moon at Babcock/Webb

(this has been a busy week, so this is a late post)

Clyde decided he wanted to photograph the Blue Moon this evening. We thought about all the places we could go to catch the moon before it was to high and decided upon Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area.

We drove in and out of dirt roads that led to the lake looking for a scene that had possibilities and that was also situated at the correct degree where the moon would be rising. The above photograph would have been nice if the moon had cooperated and come up right at the v on the horizon…but alas…it wasn’t even close.

We finally found a location. While Clyde set up his camera gear and sat and waited for the moon, I took a short hike up a hill…YES! An actual hill in south Florida!

Climbed to the top of the hill overlooking the Webb Lake.

Love the textures of the bark of Florida pines, especially when there are palms near by

The golden grass reminds me of the rolling hills covered in golden grass near my home in Palo Alto, Calif. Now, those hills are covered in houses. I’m so thankful our forefathers saved Babbcock/Webb so we could enjoy the beauty of nature without houses in the way. :)

As I’ve said before, I LOVE flowers! They are around us all year here in Florida. Sometimes they are tiny, sometimes they are big, but they are always here to bring us a bit of unique beauty.

The sun is finally starting to set and that means the moon will rise soon.

And UP comes the moon!! That little white spot in the upper right corner is a star.
